Charlee’s Story
One June morning in 2017, 20-month-old Charlee woke up and found she could no longer walk.
“We rushed her to the Emergency Department at Boston Children’s,” mom Erica recalls. An MRI revealed a tumor in Charlee’s abdomen: neuroblastoma. Stage 4.
“Needless to say, it was terrifying,” Erica says. Charlee was admitted immediately to Boston Children’s 6th floor.
Juliet’s Story
On this fall morning, Juliet’s favorite word seems to be “no” (to be fair, she is two years old.) She’s come into The One Mission Resource Room holding dad Dennis’ hand, and she’s none too pleased about the extra adult visitors staring at her.
“May we take a picture of you?”
“No.”
“Do you want to play with this toy?”
Mady’s Family Story
The family of Boston Children’s 6th-floor patient Mady is walking an incredibly difficult road. Assitan recently became a single mom. With sons Modibo, 16, Mady, 10, Michael, 3, and baby Jonathan, 4 months, in tow, Assitan came to Boston seeking treatment for Mady.
The one month she thought they would be spending at Boston Children’s has stretched to more than five. After two failed bone marrow transplants, Mady was waiting for a third.
