Event Information

Where is the 2026 Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer taking place?

Everywhere! The 2026 One Mission Buzz Off is happening wherever you are – at home, at school, at work, or in your community. Instead of gathering in one location, participants across the country will Buzz, Cut, or Color in their own spaces, all united by one mission: to show kids with cancer they’re not alone.

When is the 2026 Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer taking place?
May is our official Buzz Off & Beyond Virtual Challenge month, when we rally together nationwide to make the biggest impact! May represents new beginnings and hope – a season that mirrors the strength and determination of the patients and families who inspire us.

Throughout May, the One Mission Buzz Off fills social media with stories, photos, and celebrations from participants across the country.

If May doesn’t work, no problem! Sign-ups are open year-round so you can buzz, cut or color your hair any time that works for you. Whenever you choose to change your look, it will change the lives of children fighting cancer.

I can't participate in May. Can I choose another date and time?
Absolutely! You can buzz, cut or color your hair anytime of the year – whenever it works best for you.
What are the different ways I can participate?
Buzz – Go Bald to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer

Cut – Make a change that gives back by donating your hair

Color – Color your hair to shine bright and spread awareness

What does a Buzz Off event look like?
A Buzz Off event can look however YOU want it to! Here are a few ways you can join in:

• Individual Registration:  Raise funds and buzz, cut, or color your hair on your own – anytime, anywhere.
• Start or Join a Team: Turn it into a celebration by organizing a group Buzz Off at your school, workplace, or in your community. Buzz, cut or color together with friends, family, and coworkers.

No two Buzz Offs are ever the same, and that’s what makes it so special. Big or small, colorful or simple, it’s all about the mission: raising funds and showing kids with cancer they’re not alone.

Do I have to shave off all my hair off?
You decide what feels right for you – buzz it all, trim it short, or just color it bright. Every act of courage and creativity helps show kids with cancer that they’re not alone.
I’m bald already, but I still want to take part. Will you shave off my beard, mustache, goatee, etc?
Absolutely! If you’re bald on top but have a mustache, beard or goatee that’s a big part of your look, you can shave that off or dye it a fun color to spark awareness and show your support.
Does my hair color have to be permanent?

Not at all! You can show your support using bright, non-permanent options like spray-on color, temporary dye, or hair chalk.

Where can I donate my hair?
You can donate your hair to an organization of your choice! Be sure to check hair donation guidelines in advance, as some organizations require hair to be a minimum length or chemical-free.

We recommend Wigs for Kids – information on their requirements can be found on their website.

Do I have to register online before participating?
Yes, all participants must register online before buzzing, cutting, or coloring their hair. Registration ensures you receive your Buzz Off t-shirt, can track your fundraising progress, and are officially part of the Buzz Off community.
Does my $35 registration fee count towards my fundraising total?
No. The $35 non-refundable registration fee does not count toward your fundraising total. This fee covers your participant t-shirt and costs associated with the fundraising platform. The registration fee is not tax-deductible.
When will I receive my Buzz Off t-shirt?
You’ll receive instructions regarding ordering your Buzz Off t-shirt in your registration confirmation email. To ensure timely delivery, we recommend registering at least three weeks before your Buzz Off date.
What should I have one hand for my Buzz Off event?
You may want:

• Clippers, scissors, or color spray (depending on how you participate)
• A mirror, towels, and cape or apron
• A camera or phone for photos and videos
• Your Buzz Off t-shirt
• Optional: music, decorations, and snacks to celebrate
Can I share my photos or videos?
Yes, please do! Share your photos and videos on social media and tag One Mission so we can celebrate and share your story.
