One Mission's Kid's Cancer Buzz-Off

April 16, 2013

Dear Buzzee’s,

Just as most of you, I watched the news yesterday in horror as the events of the Boston Marathon unfolded.  I had many friends and family run the race, as well as so many of One Mission’s friends waiting at the end of the race for their runners. I was frantic waiting for responses to my voicemails and text messages looking of assurances of safety of those personally known to me.  Like many of you, I was scared and angry that this is now our world.

This week, I planned to reach out to all of your personally to congratulate you on joining the event and for your amazing fundraising thus far.  Instead, however, I find the need to additionally address security and any safety concerns you may have about the Buzz Off.  I feel we must confront and not hide from the horrific acts at the Marathon finish line.  It is important that you not only have fun at our event, but also that you feel safe.

The Buzz Off has always had security guards at the event ensuring safety, and we will continue to have these guards again this year.  But this year I expect we will be adding other resources.  We are taking your security very seriously and making it a priority and working with the Gillette team to ensure security for the event.

I have all of you to remind me that love does exist and the good that we all do far out weighs the violence.  Your kind act of selflessness in participating in the Buzz Off is so important, especially in times like this.  Thank you for supporting One Mission as well as for your gift of light in our world.

I will be back in touch.  Meanwhile, please know how grateful I am for your participation.

Please email me personally with any questions regarding security at Ashley@buzzforkids.org.

My Very Best,

Ashley
